Job Description

Exciting chance to become part of the agri-business underwriting team at the leading agri-business/farm insurance provider in Wisconsin. This role offers the flexibility to work from anywhere in the state of Wisconsin. Responsibilities:

• Develop a comprehensive understanding of Rural’s farm coverage forms and the underwriting process and workflows.
• Understand and comply with legal notification requirements to customers for underwriting action being taken.
• Follow up on tasks, renewal, and referral items in a timely manner paying close attention to deadlines.
• Collaborate with loss control to evaluate risk exposures and loss prevention compliance.
• Service and underwrite the renewal book of business. Analyze profitability, coverages, classifications, and changes in operations. Determine pricing and changes in coverage terms. This includes renewal reviews, claim reviews, risk alerts, and appeals from agents.
• Underwrite business auto and work comp policies when they are supporting lines of business for the farm policy.
• Work with support staff and the Customer Service Unit on required items such as unilateral letters, renewal changes, mid-term changes, and non-renewals.
• Communicate with agents, policyholders, and other underwriters to obtain information and respond to questions related to underwriting.
• Work with property re-insurance placement for large TIV exposures.
• Assist with training employees and agents.
• Participate in on-site farm inspections when necessary.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in risk management, insurance, business administration, agribusiness, or equivalent work experience.
• Experience in agriculture, agribusiness, or agribusiness underwriting is beneficial and strongly preferred.
• Effective written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Self-starter with demonstrated ability to work independently.
• Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Collaboration and organization skills.
• Additional education in CPCU or other industry-related fields is a plus.
• Available for occasional overnight travel.
