General Maintenance Worker - We are looking for a thorough Maintenance Technician to undertake the responsibility to preserve the good condition and functionality of our conveyor belt system and personal boarding bridges at the Birmingham International Airport. You will be responsible for performing maintenance tasks of great variety such as preventive and corrective maintenance. This ideal candidate should have a practical mind and a high degree attention to detail. Must maintain the upmost tolerance for all health and safety guidelines.
Responsibilities - Monitor the Baggage Handling System from the control room. Perform maintenance of electrical and conveyor systems. Be able to lift up to 75lbs on a consistent basis. Perform manual repairs, when necessary, conduct general upkeep procedures, maintain and close out daily work orders, computer literate, have the basic experience as maintenance technician. Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic and other systems would be a definite plus.
Other Requirements - Must have own basic maintenance tools. Clean Federal background for 10 years and a valid driver license. Will be required to work at multiple locations. Minimum of 1-year maintenance experience working in a technical environment. Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods. Working knowledge of tools. Manual dexterity and problem-solving skills. Certificate in HVAC, building maintenance technology or relevant field will be a plus. Experience in mechanical, electrical maintenance, conveyor systems, passenger boarding bridges or material handling equipment is preferred • High School diploma or equivalent. Associate's degree in electronics or mechanical repair or related field or equivalent experience is preferred, but not required. • Technically inclined, with potential to learn and grow into maintaining baggage handling and/or PBB systems • Self-Starter and Pro-active • Detail Oriented and Stress Resistant • Good Verbal and Written Communication Skills • Working knowledge of computers and equipment • Customer Oriented • Innovative and Self Assured • Ability to complete training and security checks required to receive security badge for access to restricted airport areas • Observe and comply with Company, OSHA and FAA regulations regarding safety and security • Flexible in shift work and able to work nights, weekends, overtime and holidays.
