Job Title: Data Analytics Platform Manager
Location: TX - Dallas/Irving
What you'll do: As the Data Analytics Platform Manager, you are accountable to lead a team of engineers in deploying, supporting & managing our data analytics platforms & tooling that support development of strategic insights & analytics use cases for Western Alliance Bank. This challenging role requires you to understand the various analytics capabilities & related tooling, identify best fit solutions for the Bank, & implement modern analytics solutions that support current & future Data Analytics needs. Utilizing strong critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills, you will develop relationships across the organization that enable and advance the data strategy in support of our company's growth trajectory.
As the Data Analytics Platform Manager, you lead, empower, and contribute to a high-performing centralized team of Engineers and partner with the Model Development, Data Engineering, & IT/Business Teams that have Data professionals that need access to modern Data Analytics tools to develop reports, insights, & models that meet their Data Analytics needs. You must demonstrate strong technical mastery as well as an aptitude for business subject matter expertise and the impact the analytics solutions carry. To be successful, you collaborate with architects, product managers, and business and technical stakeholders to deliver and support enterprise analytics platforms & solutions. You are the champion for growing the data analytics discipline across the IT delivery organization. Your team of full time and professional services staff will eventually consist of 4-6 engineers & data professionals who rely on you for direct accountability for their development and productivity.
- Strong background in deploying, managing, & supporting Data Analytics capabilities, such as PowerBI, Databricks, Azure ML, and facilitating a community of practice that brings together data professionals & practitioners/users of data analytics tooling to advance the maturity of Data Analytics in the enterprise
- Integrate proper risk management practices & controls into use of data analytics tooling
- Apply Test Driven Development Methodology to all data analytics solutions.
- Ensure engineers adhere to published architecture patterns and specifications.
- Serve as the product owner for team including the oversight that agile stories are well formed and meet required acceptance criteria.
- Provide resolution to production incidents related to the data platform as required.
- Provide administrative management for a team of technology professionals
- Conducts frequent coaching with individual engineers on team to guide their professional development.
- Matures the Western Alliance Bank data analytics platforms through architectural principles and standards in tight collaboration with engineering and business line leadership.
- Champions Data Governance through non-functional requirements in all data solutions.
- Effectively communicates progress, issues, obstacles and success across business and technology stakeholders.
- Commits to and demonstrates built-in quality and compliance by design in all data solutions.
- Contributes to the strategy vision for the enterprise data and analytics strategy.
What you'll need: - Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
- 8+ years experience with data analytics capabilities specifically in Data Visualization, BI/Reporting, Model Development, Statistical/Prescriptive Analytics, & ETL.
- 3+ years experience leading teams or highly complex analytics projects of cross-functional team.
- Certifications within Azure such as Azure Fundamentals, Azure Data Engineer, Azure Data Scientist, and/or Azure DevOps Engineer.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and can develop content for & communicate with Executive Level stakeholders as well as Engineering & Scrum teams.
- Understanding of strategic and new and emerging technology trends, and the practical application of existing, new, and emerging technologies to new and evolving business and operating models.
- Experience in Agile, SAFe, and/or Scrum - preferred.
- Experience integrating with data quality, data catalog and data lineage tools - preferred.
- Additional Cloud Data certifications with any major cloud provides (Azure, AWS, GCP) -preferred.
- Banking or financial services industry experience or other highly regulated industry experience - preferred.
