Job Description

Global investment management firm is seeking a risk management professional who will drive and support the firm's Operational Risk Management Framework, which enables the company to effectively identify, monitor, measure and control its operational risk profile. This role will reside within the Operational Risk team which is part of the broader Enterprise Risk Management function. This team leads all aspects of the governance of the operational risk management program and provides senior management with data-driven reporting & analytics to support strategic planning and decision making.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Implement and support Operational Risk Management Framework activities, including risk governance, incident collection and analysis, issues management, risk assessments, key risk indicators (KRI), and maintenance of the Risk and Controls Inventory
  • Facilitate and drive assessments of new business and critical initiatives to ensure appropriate controls are implemented
  • Collaborate with business and functional groups to develop and supervise KRIs and mitigation plans for effective risk management
  • Build and present investigative analyses on risk trends and themes to senior management
  • Promote and build a strong risk management culture across business and functional groups through ongoing engagement, training, and relationship building
  • Serve as an independent challenge function by applying good judgement in the evaluation of risks, controls and remediation plans
  • Partner with other internal risk management groups and control functions (e.g., Internal Audit, SOX, Compliance, etc.) to identify synergies and leverage standard processes across the enterprise
  • Prepare materials for reoccurring Operational Risk governance activities and executive level reporting
  • Conduct enterprise and other risk assessments, as needed, to identify and assess significant risks and associated remediation plans that support business objectives

Qualifications & Experience

  • 10+ years in financial services risk management, internal controls, audit or business process management activities. Insurance industry experience is preferred.
  • Outstanding leadership skills to partner and build professional relationships in a cross functional environment
  • Proven understanding of risk management tools / platforms such as Archer and/or Auditboard preferred
  • Demonstrated excellent capabilities in written and oral communications of complex thematic reporting, ability to influence and guide others at various levels of the organization
  • Proven strategic thinker and creative problem solver with the ability to analyze and synthesize sophisticated issues and identify common themes and solutions
  • Strong project management and time management skills with an ability to independently lead a project through to completion
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in all business results
  • Ability to navigate ambiguous situations, drive decision making, manage change, and learn quickly in a multifaceted business environment
  • Robust standard methodologies toolkit for data management, reporting, and presentations to support ongoing Operational Risk activities
