River Valley Community College – ESOL/ELL Tutor

Tutor appointments are temporary, for a specified contract period.

Tutor Pay Rate is $22.00

Location: Claremont, Keene and Lebanon campus or zoom.

CCSNH has established employer status within the New England states (Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island). In compliance with CCSNH policies and state regulations, eligibility for employment within CCSNH and its institutions requires residency within a New England state.

Offers of employment will be contingent upon the successful completion of the requisite background check.

River Valley Community College is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic ESOL/ELL Tutor. The organization is committed to providing high-quality English language instruction to support learners from diverse backgrounds in achieving their academic and personal goals. This position entails one on one tutoring alongside the subject-specialist tutor and holding a weekly drop-in “Conversation Café” to support and create a community for interested students.

Minimum qualifications

• Fluency in English (both verbal and written).
• Bachelor's degree in Education, English, Linguistics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Strong understanding of language acquisition principles.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patience and empathy, with the ability to work effectively with students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Proficiency in using technology for instructional purposes.

Preferred qualifications

• TESOL, TEFL, or equivalent certification.
• Previous experience teaching or tutoring English to non-native speakers.
• Experience with adult learners.
• Bilingualism (e.g., Spanish, Chinese, Arabic).
• Familiarity with remote teaching platforms and tools.
