Job Description

In accordance with the duties and responsibilities outlined below, Fitness Counselors support a positive environment for members, visitors and colleagues. Conducting themselves in a consistently professional and courteous manner, Fitness Counselors are responsible for providing outstanding customer service, ensuring the safety and well-being of all members and guests, and maintaining a warm and friendly experience throughout the Fitness Center.


Pay is $16 - 18 per hour, depending on experience, for up to 20 - 30 hours per week.

Monday through Thursday from 7:30am to 1pm.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in maintaining the neatness and cleanliness of the Fitness Center. This includes but is not limited to: vacuuming and mopping the floors of cardio and weight rooms, wiping down weight and cardio machines, sanitize surfaces, dusting, cleaning mirrors, re-racking weights, ensure locker rooms are clean and sanitized, etc.
  • Frequently perform a comprehensive walk of all fitness areas to ensure a great member experience. Quickly address issues as they are identified.
  • Respond to member questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner and elevate to Fitness Director as needed.
  • Answer phones in a friendly manner and assist callers with a variety of questions.
  • Ensure that the first aid kit is fully stocked, and notifying the appropriate party for replenishment when supplies are low.
  • Take prospective members on tours, and facilitate the membership sign-up process with the assistance of the registrar.

  • A passion for fitness and health!

  • Punctuality and reliability is a must.
  • Exceptional customer service skills; able to interact in a positive and professional way with members and co-workers.
  • Understand principles of physical fitness and proper exercise technique.
  • A team player, with the ability and willingness to take and implement direction and feedback, and to interact with others in a friendly, engaging and professional manner.
  • Demonstrate diplomacy in all interactions while using appropriate behavior and language.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification required.
  • A minimum of a high school diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.


Physical Demands:

  • Continual standing and walking during shift and moving in different positions (bending, climbing, kneeling, twisting) to perform certain tasks.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 - 60lbs (dumbbells to be re-racked, etc.)
  • Use of cleaning products.
