Library Assistant
The Johnson Creek Public Library is currently accepting applications for a part-time Library Assistant. We are seeking a forward-thinking, creative, and adaptable individual who is organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently while effectively prioritizing tasks. The ideal candidate will be friendly, reliable, and tech-savvy, with a strong work ethic and a genuine interest in serving the public. Excellent customer service skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to embrace change are essential. Candidates should be comfortable using computers, personal electronic devices, and social media platforms. This role requires someone who can make independent decisions, enjoys working both independently and as part of a team, and is eager to contribute to a welcoming and responsive library environment. Preference may be given to those with Library experience and/or education. The schedule will be for 22 hours a week and include days, one rotating Thursday evening, and 1-2 Saturdays a month. Flexible availability is a plus.

Purpose of Classification
The purpose of this position is to perform cataloging and processing of acquired materials. Maintain serials holdings records. Help to maintain the library collection and the database. Screens the collection for outdated or unused materials following established guidelines. Clean and repair all damaged library materials. Serves as a resource for other library personnel concerning cataloging rules and practices. Coordinate materials loaned through the interlibrary loan (ILS) system for patrons, other libraries and institutions.
This position also performs a wide variety of general library work assisting patrons with daily library operations such as helping find materials, using the CAFÉ catalog, answering questions, and making copies. It also involves checking items in and out using the Polaris system, and other duties as assigned. The work is performed under the supervision of the Library Director.
