Job Description

We are seeking a board-certified physician specializing in Internal Medicine - Gastroenterology for a locum tenens opportunity near Smyrna, Delaware. This position is ideal for a dedicated professional looking for a temporary role, with a mix of inpatient and outpatient responsibilities, available from April 1, 2025, to July 1, 2025 .

Position Highlights:

• Schedule:
  • Monday through Friday from April to June.
  • Procedure Days: Monday, Wednesday, and alternating Fridays.
  • Office Days: Tuesday, Thursday, and alternate Fridays.
• Practice Setting: Combination of inpatient and outpatient services.
• Patient Volume: Approximately 20 patients per shift.
• Call Responsibilities: Limited to phone consultations; no admissions required.

Core Responsibilities:

• Perform upper GI endoscopy procedures, including:
  • Biopsies
  • Foreign body removal
  • Fulguration of bleeders
  • Injection of varices
• Conduct lower GI procedures, including colonoscopy with biopsies and polyp excision.
• Expertise in ERCP (diagnostic and therapeutic).
• Additional procedures:
  • Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)
  • Liver biopsies
  • Small bowel biopsies

Facility Features:

• Trauma Level III designation.
• Temporary hospital privileges available.
• EMR System: Epic.
• Supported by a skilled team:
  • 4 Medical Assistants
  • 3 PA/NPs
  • 5 Office Staff

Qualifications:

• Board Certification in Internal Medicine - Gastroenterology required.
• Active DE medical license (no reimbursement for licensing costs).
• BLS and ATLS certifications required.
