Position: Network Administrator

Duration: 1+ Year Contract

Location: Bolingbrook, IL (Onsite training and then would be fully remote after that 2-3-week training period)

Job Details: This candidate will be WFH to walk a remote technician in another city through a series of steps in order to remove/add hardware components from the network rack at an Client store each morning. That remote technician will be performing the physical labor to swap out Meraki network hardware and replace with Cato hardware.

Must haves:

• Attention to detail : This contractor will be counted on to adhere to a set of provided instructions and walk a remote technician (in another location) through dozens of steps. They must be extremely focused and able to pay strict attention to time since the task each night must be completed in 8 hours.
• Network-device-based understanding (as opposed to technicians who are portal and administration based):
  • Experience with Switches
  • Experience with SD-Wan Firewall Devices
  • Experience with APs
• Hands-on experience installing/moving devices within a rack :
  • Have they ever unracked or racked network devices?
  • Have they ever dealt with patch panels and cable management?
  • Any overall experience with cleaning anything
  • Knowing the difference between the different type of power devices e.g., "PDU, battery backup, UPS"
  • Identifying all types of devices that could be in a network rack e.g., "Switch-based KVM, server, networking equipment"
• Subnetting and IP schema awareness and troubleshooting :
  • Know the difference between subnets.
  • Experience with devices communicating through VLANs.
• Fundamentally understanding how subnetting works and how devices need to be configured to work within a VLAN
• Identifying firewall rules that would apply to VLAN traffic
• Fundamental understanding of DNS

• Intermediate-level PC operational skills : Teams/spreadsheets/Outlook

Nice to haves:

• CCNA or similar network certificate
• Experience with using SSH to remotely connect to a switch.
• Familiar / Comfortable issuing "show" type commands into a switch and understand the output.
• Aruba or Cato Portal experience / Meraki Portal experience
• Network portal experience: Examples: Juniper, Fortinet, Ubiquity, SonicWall, etc.
• Background in Debugging or troubleshooting networks and PCs:
• Basic Scripting:
• SharePoint experience: End user usage
