Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and passionate Payroll & Accounts Payable Specialist to join the team. The Payroll & AP

Specialist will support all aspects of payroll and accounts payable for our 40+ location restaurant Franchise, ensuring that

all deadlines are met with the highest degree of accuracy.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Payroll

  • Process weekly payroll for 1000+ employees
  • Review, approve & make appropriate changes regarding promotions, demotions, terminations and salary increases
  • Ensure accuracy of weekly sign offs by General Managers and District Managers for the following week payroll run
  • Interact with employees and managers to address and resolve employee issues or questions relating to their payroll
  • Prepare reports to relevant departments about payroll
  • Work with company database programs to process payroll
  • Assist employees with gaining access to their tax documents and paycheck stubs
  • Process and oversee expense reimbursement and reporting
  • Provide project support when necessary for the payroll department
  • Provide innovative solutions to support the continued growth of the company
  • Partner with the Human Relations Department for onboarding & offboarding activities

Accounts Payable

  • Review accounts payable invoices, assign vendor numbers and similar identifying date, and confirm correct accounting codes were used
  • Enter vendor information into accounting software system; verify that invoice information is entered correctly
  • Communicate with vendors regarding all aspects of invoicing, payments, issue resolution
  • Issue payments to vendors as approved
  • Process monthly payments as approved
  • Answer vendor questions by researching accounts
  • Process and reconcile bank activity reports and statements
  • Process weekly sales tax pre-payments
  • Review, pay and record real-estate and property tax payments as needed
  • Handle and process business licenses, fees, and permits
  • Prepare and file annual LLC renewals with the appropriate states
  • Pay monthly rents, utilities, leases, etc.
  • Manage, record, reconcile gift card transactions and associated journal entries
  • Manage and record delivery app reconciliations on a daily, weekly and per period basis
  • Input and record daily sales
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Good understanding of the common fiscal procedures

Work Environment:

  • This position operates remote with the ideal candidate being within 50 miles of the Overland Park KS area
  • Must have a dedicated office space that is private, free from distractions, and can safely secure confidential information
  • Secure, high speed internet connection and a strong cell phone connection or hard-wired phone connection required
  • Available to work normal business hours routinely

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred
  • 1+ years of experience with Paylocity preferred similar payroll software experience required
  • 2-5 years in an accounting role required
  • 3+ years in the restaurant industry preferred
  • High school education or equivalent required
