The Position
The Reserve Firefighter program is designed to support full-time Fire Department operations while also serving as a career development pathway for individuals pursuing the fire service industry.
As a non-sworn Reserve Firefighter, participants will:
Gain hands-on experience working alongside professional firefighters.
Receive ongoing training to develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to succeed in the fire service.
Work toward obtaining the California State Firefighter I certification.
Contribute to the Lincoln Fire Department by applying learned skills in service to the community.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The Reserve Firefighter will respond to and participate in fire suppression, hazardous materials, rescue and medical operations requiring full unassisted ambulatory activity including bending, stooping, lifting up to 100 pounds, walking on uneven surfaces, squatting, climbing, lying prone, and running. Work is performed indoors and outdoors, and exposure to water, heat, fire, smoke and other hazardous substances. Reserve Firefighters will wear self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), protective clothing and boots, operate heavy rescue equipment and administer medical treatment to ill and injured persons.
Please Note: Reserve Firefighters will be required to work a minimum of two (2) shifts or 48 hours.

Selection Process
$150 per month stipend
No benefits are available for this position
Shift Selection Process
Reserves are assigned to a specific shift and station and may be rotated as needed. The candidate will be assigned to the specific shift and station for six months. At the end of the six months, they will rotate to a different shift to allow the candidates the chance to gain more exposure to individuals with different skills and specialties in the fire service. The Reservist shall submit available days of work by the twentieth of the current month for the following month. If there are more than one reservist on each shift at a certain station, preference will be given to the reservist with the most time in the program. If two or more reserves have the same amount of time in the program, a rotating list will be followed to allow each reservist a fair opportunity to select their workday.
