General Overview and Expectations:

The Senior Escrow Officer is responsible to work with their clients as the primary point of contact from file open through close of escrow (the closing table), and ensures our Empora team makes the experience as easy, seamless, and fast as possible. We are looking for someone with an extreme ownership mindset who thrives on being in the driver’s seat when it comes to upholding a positive customer experience as well as maintaining the compliance and integrity required to facilitate one of the most important financial transactions our clients will experience. 

The right person for the role knows that delays and errors wreak havoc on a deal, so they are meticulous with every detail and strive for the highest level of accuracy, while keeping the deals moving quickly. They have high expectations of themselves and those around them and are eager to motivate their team to rise to the occasion when presented with solving challenges they are presented with. 

Responsibilities:

  1. Primary contact for our investor clients, responsible for day to day communications with investor clients, lenders, and other parties involved in the transaction

  2. Prioritize file management 

  3. Communicate and collaborate effectively with internal and external partners to ensure title transaction processes occur efficiently and accurately. 

  4. Ensure exemplary customer service in every interaction and transaction. 

  5. Maintain high quality standards in all aspects of title and escrow processes. 

  6. Ensure all transactions and processes are compliant with legal and company standards. 

  7. Communicate with lenders and prepare Closing Disclosures or Settlement Statements for purchase and refinance transactions

  8. Calculate premiums, closing costs, mortgage tax and recording fees

  9. Prepare all relevant documents for closing including CPLs, deeds, affidavits, escrow agreements, etc.

  10. Confirm signing authority and signature blocks from entity documents

  11. Review of all title clearance documentation for sufficiency

  12. Receipt and book funds, balance files, prepare disbursement, key in wires

Role Requirements & Qualifications

  1. An insatiable desire to challenge and change the status quo in the title industry

  2. At least 5 years of experience as an escrow officer, including multi-state or national experience in purchase and refinance transactions involving investors

  3. Familiarity with assignment contracts, transactional funding, double closings, title abstracts and chain of title, legal descriptions, surveys, lien searches, property taxes, probate, bankruptcy documents, commitments, endorsements, and title policies

  4. An understanding of state-to-state requirements and variances. 

  5. Ability to accurately analyze and evaluate documents as they relate to the title

  6. Operation with a sense of timeline urgency toward desired closing dates; ownership mindset and exceptional problem solving skills. 

  7. A “quarterback” mentality to collaborate with appropriate parties in the spirit of issue resolution that ultimately gets the client to the closing table. 

  8. Resident escrow officer and/or title insurance license is a plus, any additional non-resident escrow officer and/or title insurance license an added plus
