Seeking a talented Substance Abuse Counselor in Baltimore, MD. Must excel in motivating and supporting clients through treatment obstacles. • Conduct multidimensional assessments and clinical evaluations, including providing diagnostic impressions and implementing Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) protocols
• Maintain accurate records and reports on clients' progress, services offered, and necessary information
• Provide counseling to clients to help them overcome obstacles, adjust to life changes, and make positive changes; refer clients to appropriate community or social service programs
• Assist clients in accessing treatment by arranging psychiatric evaluations, coordinating medical stabilization, applying for health insurance, seeking funding for treatment services, and collaborating with clients' support systems when needed
• Evaluate clients' mental and physical conditions in collaboration with other professionals to determine the appropriate level of care
• Monitor and assess clients' progress toward measurable treatment goals through follow-ups and reviews
• Advocate for clients in crisis situations and intervene to resolve urgent problems
• Coordinate with mental health professionals, courts, probation officers, and other post-treatment agencies to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with other professionals to assess client needs and develop treatment plans
• Educate clients and community members on addiction issues, available services, and make referrals when necessary
• Provide support and guidance to family members and concerned parties to help them understand and cope with individuals struggling with substance abuse

Qualifications:

• To be eligible for the Substance Abuse Counselor position in Baltimore, MD, US, candidates must have one of the following licenses or certifications:
• Possession of a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) certification is required.
• Possession of a Licensed Graduate Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LGADC) certification is required.
• Possession of a Certified Supervised Counselor-Alcohol and Drug (CSC-AD) certification is required.
• Possession of a Certified Associate Counselor-Alcohol and Drug (CAC-AD) certification is required.
• Possession of an Addiction Trainee (ADT) certification is required.
• A thorough understanding of the recovery process and the ability to support recovery using established standardized ASAM processes is essential.
• Fundamental knowledge of substance abuse and dual diagnosis is mandatory.
• Candidates will be responsible for ensuring the provision of clinical and administrative services to patients and their families.
