California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), Office of Legal Affairs (OLA) is seeking a motivated attorney eager to supervise a team of attorneys advising department executives on employment policies and coordinating with the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) on employment cases brought against CDCR. Under the direction of the Chief Deputy General Counsels (CDGCs), the Assistant General Counsel (AGC) is responsible for the oversight of a team of attorneys researching and advising on policies and litigated cases involving the Fair Employment and Housing Act, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, California Family Rights Act, and the Whistleblower Protection Act, among others. The AGC works closely with their CDGC and General Counsel to provide legal guidance on departmental policies, regulatory changes, proposed legislation, and any other department program needs of a legal nature. The AGC works in partnership with the OAG, outside counsel, and various other stakeholders to ensure litigation impacting CDCR is resolved in a manner most beneficial to CDCR.
