Human Resources Generalist

In this position, you’ll not only respond to reported issues, but will also look for ways to support DLL’s members proactively through change, conflict, and even ethical situations. Handling thorny, tricky situations with good judgment and a deep desire to support for best outcomes will be all over your work history as an HR professional. You’ll work in close partnership with the Canadian Human Resources team which is closely connected to the business, DLL managers, and members at every level of skill and tenure.

Day to Day

  • Influence Managers and Members towards successful outcomes in conflict situations
  • Handle Employee Relations cases including behavioural or performance concerns and assisting managers with corrective process
  • Respond to reports of harassment or discrimination
  • Effectively, accurately, and confidentially maintain all HR/ER data
  • Lead monthly or quarterly meetings with Managers and Team Leads on employee relations topics, propose action plans, and help implement action effectively
  • Support various change management initiatives
  • Support performance management processes, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and feedback sessions
  • Provide administrative, planning, relationship management and communication support to the HR Business Partner and Country HR Manager
  • Support the team with payroll-related activities
  • Conduct new hire orientation
  • Address member concerns and inquiries, providing guidance on HR policies and procedures
  • Conduct investigations in response to a range of member concerns, and communicate regularly regarding pending investigations
  • Administer WSIB and short-term disability processes, including completing accident reports, submitting WSIB forms, and liaising with managers, and third-party disability managers to support early and safe return to work prospects
  • Maintain compliance with Canadian laws and employee legislation requirements to ensure compliance and best practices are being maintained
  • Fosters and maintains positive relationships with DLL members and leaders
  • Works in compliance with the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and all other relevant governmental legislation
  • Work closely with other HR team members to achieve departmental goals
  • Collaborate with HR Centres of Excellence and cross-functional teams to enhance overall organizational effectiveness
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Essentials

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management
  • CHRP or working towards CHRP designation
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the Human Resources field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented and the ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Knowledge of provincial and federal employment laws and regulations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Applicable Pay Range

$65,674 - $98,512

DLL is considering candidates in numerous locations. The pay estimate displayed represents the typical pay range for candidates hired for this position in the desired primary work location. Pay may be adjusted outside the projected range based on geographical differentiation as well as for any other lawful reason. Additional factors that may be used to determine your actual pay include your specific skills, years of relevant experience you possess, and other work-related qualifications. Many candidates may start in the bottom half of the applicable pay range, especially those with less experience or qualification.

This position is subject to the terms of DLL’s compensation plans and policies. Further, the position includes all other benefits provided to DLL employees, including healthcare benefits, pension plan, vacation, sick leave, parental leave, possible discretionary bonuses, and all other benefits that are subject to eligibility.
