Copper Island Academy is seeking a High School Junior Varsity Girls Basketball Coach . Starting November 10th.
Copper Island Academy is a newly authorized public school academy in the Keweenaw Peninsula of Michigan located in Calumet. Our mission is to prepare all students for college, work, and life success through the implementation of highly effective Finnish education practices while embracing traditional American ideals.
Copper Island Academy is seeking a dedicated Junior Varsity Girls Basketball Coach to lead and mentor our student-athletes. The ideal candidate will be passionate about developing young athletes both on and off the court, supporting their growth through positive coaching, teamwork, and a focus on character.

We coach the whole athlete , preparing students for success beyond the scoreboard.
● Plan and lead practices, beginning November 10, 2025
● Teach fundamental skills, strategy, and teamwork while building our HS program
● Supervise and ensure the safety of student-athletes during practices and competitions
● Promote academic and personal development consistent with school values
● Communicate clearly with players, parents, and school personnel
● Prior coaching or playing experience (preferably basketball)
● Demonstrated ability to mentor and lead youth
● CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
● MHSAA CAP certification (or willingness to complete if interested in moving to Varsity)
